Helpers Home Care (“Helpers”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and protecting the personal information used for the delivery of services. Helpers will limit the collection, use and disclosure of personal information to that which is necessary to deliver home care services for clients and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
Helpers is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and applicable provincial and professional standards.
Definitions
Service-Relevant Information – information that is reasonably required to provide sufficient, safe, and appropriate care, such as specific details relevant to the requested care service.
Consent
By providing your information, you agree to your personal information being used in accordance with this policy, revised from time to time as needed.
Collection of information
We may ask for you to provide your personal information, including when you register for an account, use the Helpers application, or request service. In order to provide service, we collect information including, but not limited to:
We only collect your personal information with your consent. Personal information is collected primarily for the purpose of providing home care or to assist with the provision of home care. We collect personal information directly from you or from a person authorized to act on your behalf. We may also collect personal information from other sources with your consent or as permitted by law.

We use personal information for the purpose of providing home care, including associated administration. The use of this information includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Sharing of Information
Information is only shared with individuals involved in your care. All employees of Helpers do not have access to your personal information, even though they are employees of Helpers and you are a client of Helpers.
In rare cases, we may be required by law or other lawful authority to release personal information, such as when we receive a court order or subpoena. In such cases, Helpers will verify the lawful authority prior to release the information and will endeavour to release only what is necessary for the stated purpose of the request.
Information Retention
Helpers will not continue to have access to “service-relevant information” after your services have been completed. We will retain a record of basic client information, as provided during client registration. These records are stored in a manner that ensures ongoing security, as described in the following section.

Helpers only permits those who are either providing home care or assisting with the provision of home care to have access to personal information, as required.
Helpers digital infrastructure has been designed to ensure high level of information security. Helpers takes all reasonable steps to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal information. We consider your personal information confidential and have put the following safeguards in place to ensure security:
Utilizing the Azure platform allows us to leverage the inherent security safeguards to help protect privacy, based on established industry standards. Azure is capable in risk, security, and incident management; access control; data integrity protection; and other areas relative to recommendations from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Helpers employees, agents, and sub-contractors are committed to confidentiality and privacy.

- We use Auth0 as our Customer Identity and Access Management system, enabling social identity login and 2 Factor Authentication.
- Our data is hosted in a postgres database, that is strongly password-protected and only accessible from whitelisted IP addresses.
- Our site is secured with HTTPS, and backend APIs are only accessible from the domain on which the app is hosted.
